Don’t hide your magic.

Please share your gifts.

Seeing you shine?

It gives this whole world a lift.

It is okay

for wizards

to be quiet

or shy …

But hiding your magic?!?

It’s a crime and here’s why:

THE WORLD NEEDS TO DAZZLE.

WE NEED WHAT YOU’VE GOT.

YOU MIGHT THINK YOU ARE NOTHING,

and really? You’re not.

You are more!

Much more!

It is time to be seen.

You’re more powerful than you can imagine,

more loved than you can dream.

If you ever feel less than …

or like you don’t count…

or maybe your soul is all flooded with doubt ..

Remember your gifts.

You’re equipped. You’re prepared.

Please never forget:

Magic is meant to be shared.

Brad, I had the chance to hear you speak at my work’s All-Hands meeting. (We chatted briefly afterwards about summer camp!) At the end of your talk you shared a poem about not hiding your magic and gifts. Would you be able to share it with me? I wanted to send to my sisters…. -V.H.

Over the years, I’ve concluded many talks and story times with this poem. I sometimes move words around or add verses (or totally forget large parts of it … ha), but the spirit is always the same: don’t hide your magic. For me, it’s a way of remembering to see the best in others — and myself. Wanted to share it with all of you today.
