I was fortunate enough to take one of Dr. Delay’s science classes. I always loved that he had a little mischievous glint in his eye and just genuinely seemed to enjoy life. He was serious but didn’t take things too seriously. I’m so glad he and his wife were the voices of Bib and Dot.
Thanks so much, friend. It was really beautiful and joyful - a perfect way to celebrate his unique light. Sending lots of love and big hellos to you and all your incredible girls.
Every memory is a treasure. Thank you for adding Bib and Dot (and the Chili Bowl/Public lands clips) to that chest. Thanks for these thoughts. I have considered the sentiment of eulogy virtues before. The best of those are drenched in love.
Thanks so much, Regina. Drenched in love is exactly right! A worthy goal. You and your family live it well. Loved getting to see you and chat on Sunday. Thanks for being you.
It broke my heart to hear of Dr Delay’s passing but I was so glad I got to take his class and experience that wonderful man! Brad, your emails always bring a joy to my day! Keep doing your good work!
Right?! He was such a staple, it's hard to imagine he'd ever not be here. Sad for this loss, but deeply grateful for all his friendship and presence have meant! Thanks for the kind words. Means so much to know you're here, Beth. Cheers!
This is so precious. I was recently at a memorial for a great aunt and it really got me thinking about eulogy virtues, though I didn’t have those words for it. I agree that as a society we need to pay more attention to them. The video is so adorable!
You're so right, Carly. I'm grateful this could help articulate what you've been reflecting on. Too often we deem these kinds of conversations too morbid or uncomfortable, but there's a way to do it that points toward hopeful purpose and meaningful action. To that!
Such inspiring thoughts to launch into the day…. I’ll be sitting with this for some time contemplating my life as art and the virtues that spring forth. Thank you for shining a light into this deep well for us.
Ryan, your comment speaks to exactly what I want for myself too! Life as an art. Grateful to find a kindred spirit and honored these words would resonate. Cheers to you!
Can you post some of the unedited stories of Bib and Dot! I am old, and I want to love love love like they do. I would also love more giggles in my life.
This means so much, Linda! Thanks for the kind words. I'm also glad you, too, appreciate Bib and Dot. They're who I want to be when I don't grow up. :)
Thanks for watching, Erika. Real talk -- it takes me an embarrasingly long time to draw and edit short little squiggly animations together. I'm certain there's a better way to do it and one day I hope to know how! So, there is that little part of me that goes.... "wait, this took me weeks to make. will anybody on the entire planet even watch it?!" So, when you share kind words like this it means more than a simple "thank you" can say. haha.
Oooh, love the distinction between resume virtues and eulogy virtues. Words of wisdom I needed to read today, and I loved learning about Joe — thanks for sharing his spirit with us today. 🤍
Was hoping you'd see this! Meant to send your way. You and the paper were a special part of this! Thanks for providing an outlet for this weirdo. Love you B Harvey!
Fun fact: the 'kidney stones' bit is based on a true story. After my grandmother passed, we were going through her things. There was a small box with a note inside that said "My Gallstones". Sure enough, wrapped in aluminum foil, there they were. I guess some things are just hard to throw away. Ha!

The mischievous glint! Yes yes yes! That was him. What a glint! Grateful for these memories, Emily! Thanks for the kind words.
Brad, when I see there is a post from you in my inbox, my day is. just. better. Thank you.
Jes, thank you. It means a lot to know these things mean something to anybody else! Grateful you’re here. Truly.
Ditto!
❤️
This is a delightful post. Thank you so much for your Bib and Dot sketches as well as the concept of Eulogy virtues. Much food for thought here.
Thank YOU! Thought food I really need to chew on, too! Glad you're here.
I was so sad to hear about Joe. I’m glad though that you got to do the eulogy. Wish I could have been there. I bet it was beautiful!

Your reminders have become incredibly important to me. ❤️
This means more than I know how to say, Jori. Thank you. Truly .
"Resume Virtues "vs." Eulogy Virtues"--That snippet was pure gold...This entire post was a joy-nugget. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Diana! I like the term 'joy-nugget'. Haha. It's an adorable and yet enormous compliment.

Just loved this. Living most certainly is the most beautiful art. Thank you so much for sharing.
Appreciate you and these kind words, Julie. Here's to the art of living!

Thank you, Maryn! Here’s to healthy resumes but an even juicier eulogy! To the good stuff. Grateful for your kind words and encouragement
