Now that’s a perfect quote for my wall of embroidered quotes!(They are all lines from movies, but there’s an exception to every rule😁🙌💛)

Thanks so much, Kara. As a massive movie nerd, I hold this as a high honor. It'd be a pretty great line in an action film just before the hero puts sunglasses on and there's an explosion but like instead of a typical explosion it'd be glitter bomb/paint/blast of color beauty. p.s. I'd love to know what some of your favorite movie lines are?

Thank you, Brad! Sometimes the gems are the ones that end up on the cutting room floor.

(And selfishly, I think you just provided an explanation for my own substack post yesterday, which had a few people wondering why I was writing about flowers as a metaphor for political change.)

Liz, I just read that wonderful piece! Made me think so much about change and patience and beauty. So good. Thank you!! Holding these words from it closely: "When I have doubts, I look at something beautiful." YES! Thanks for being you.

Okay, I am SO happy someone else was delighted by this discovery! Finding this treasure trove gave me the same feeling I used to get when a new issue arrived in my mailbox. ALSO, the old ads in them are a real treat.

I never realized how formative these were for me. I have such vivid memories of the covers and found favorites right away, but I'd completely forgotten about them! And, yes-- the ADS!! Pure delight.

Hi Brad, your article with that amazing quote just made my day!!! Thank you! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who believes in beauty and kindness and wonder! From now on, every time I see Cynicism stomping about with a big cigar, and spewing comments that make my ears curl and my heart is about to sink, I’ll remember your quote, and Beauty will join me in her wonderful flowing gown and the sweet breeze surrounding us will make the ugly brute and smelly cigar disappear! Can I put your quote on my Facebook page? I think it would inspire a lot of people. (And I’ll put the source in case people want to know

YES :) So glad this landed in my inbox this morning... I've made a hard pivot in the last few months from a very demanding professional job to pursuing poetry, flower farming, and leading adventure trips for writers. Meanwhile, my inner critic is like, "WTF, really? poems and flowers!?" it's tempting to feel like cultivating BEAUTY, and PLAYFULNESS and CURIOSITY is totally frivolous right now. But this post helps me reframe it. Thank you!
